Copernico Centrale is the innovative architectural format created by Studio DC10 to meet the new needs of the working world and of the new generations. The creation of the business centre fully expresses the new concept of smart working by combining office spaces and places for sharing, such as the café, gym, library, co-working area and cinema: an entire level that becomes the Social Floor. Despite the many constraints that characterized the existing building, the project has managed to revolutionize the perception of spaces through the creation of double heights and a new outdoor area. Inspired by the Nordic tradition, the interior design stands out for its industrial tone and the use of natural materials that result in a warm and familiar environment that adapts to different potential uses.
This project addressed issues of flexibility, movement and constant crossing of the boundaries between home and office.
Design proposals were rethought and occasionally redesigned ad hoc where standard solutions were not considered sufficiently appropriate, as in the case of the non reception, which has been set up for reception use as well as filtering and visitor management.
The lounge area on the ground floor contains custom-made furniture and a counter for working while standing or sitting on stools.
The cinema area is an environment designed to be a multi-purpose gathering place. Furnishings are flexible and customized.
The relaxation areas are characterized by differences in colour, high-backed sofas and areas with comfortable seating. Recesses are included at intervals along corridors so that people can make phone calls.
