The intervention involved the recovery and upgrading of the top floor of a building complex behind Palazzo Trivulzio, an area of high value in the historic centre of Milan. For this reason, the construction of the superelevation has required particular attention on the urban matrix and an intense dialogue with the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape. The project has given a strong unity to the building complex, characterized by different historical stratifications. The elements that allow this homogeneity are in reality copper sunshades that protect the perimeter of the apartments, delicate aerial curtains that hide a fully glazed envelope. This architectural expedient allows the interior surface area available to be optimized to the fullest extent and the brightness of the environments to be maximized.
